Sharing the Excitement

I slept later than I hoped I would. The trick when this happens is to NOT CHECK EMAIL before I leave the house. But sometimes I ignore my own advice. Yesterday was one of those mornings when I thought I would just take a quick peek at what might lay in wait for me when I arrived at the office.

Oh, what’s this? … a book review! Egad! The thrill! The suspense! One can not read a review too quickly — to get the core message. Or enough times — to absorb that message.

Midwest Book Review receives dozens of books daily and it was exciting to have made it to their “review this” pile and into the March 2016 issue of Small Press Bookwatch:

A deftly crafted and skillfully written novel from beginning to end, “Goodnight Sunshine” is a highly recommended and unfailingly entertaining read documenting author Mark Cameron as an especially skilled and original storyteller. Indeed, “Goodnight Sunshine” is certain to be an enduringly popular addition to community library General Fiction collections.

I wanted to wake Mark up right away. Instead I opted to shower and revel for an extra 10 minutes in the what’s mine is mine, and what’s his is mine comment that a friend and I had joked about the day before.

I’m super happy for Mark and this feels like one of those cases where his success is my success. Woohoo for us! Go Team Cameron!

And indeed, my success (as a writer) is your success (as editor, wife, partner, friend, confidante, muse, …). Thanks for the great wake-up call — and for sending my book to the reviewer in the first place!

Congratulations to the two of you. A well deserved review for an amazing new author. Your future reminds me of a quote from my other favorite author, Dr. Seuss, “Oh the places you’ll go”. Hugs to you both.

Tricia! I feel so grown up while hearing from you … we are such a long way now from “telling people just where to go!” It’s wonderful to still have you in my life after all these years, beautiful friend.
